Thatched Properties
There are approximately 60,000 thatched properties in the UK.
During the winter of 2009/10 there were 31 fires in thatched properties.
Ninety percent of these were the result of a faulty chimney or flue.
The average house fire costs around £10,000. For a thatched property this rises to well in excess of £100,000.
If the chimney/flue installation is illegal or faulty the insurance company may refuse to pay the claim.
We specialise in installing flues into thatched properties.
There has never been a fire in a thatched property where we have installed the flue.
It is not always legally possible to install a flue in a thatched property. To save you wasted expenses our chief engineer will advise you whether an installation is possible and what type of appliance can be fitted.
We are proud to be associated with John Albion, Duffield & Pratt who are specialist insurers of unique homes. They trust us to carry out chimney camera surveys when required for their policies.
We are happy to give the following quotation from John Albion
"We have been aware of the Heatcraft company for more than twenty years now and cannot fault their professionalism and knowledge when it comes to installing solid fuel heating appliances in thatched properties"
Brian Duffield ACII. Chartered Insurance Practitioner.
